Ned Matilpi is a Canadian artist of Kwakwaka'wakw and Tlingit heritage, born in Alert Bay, British Columbia, in 1957. He began carving at age 25, influenced by his father, Oscar Matilpi, and other master carvers. Matilpi is known for his carved masks, panels, poles, and bentwood boxes, which blend t
