Takao Tanabe (born 1926, Seal Cove, BC) is a Japanese-Canadian painter renowned for his luminous, minimalist landscapes of the BC coast, the prairies, and the Rocky Mountains — paintings that distill the Canadian landscape into its most essential atmospheric elements. Interned with his family during
